February has already been a huge month for me mainly for three reasons: It’s Black History Month, I successfully declared my major, and I have discovered some great new music. Now, these things may not be a huge deal to most people but allow me to further explain.
I am Black, apologetically. Therefore, I LOVE Black History Month. Although it’d be great if we did this year round, it’s a great time to reflect on the sacrifices our ancestors made while fighting for our rights. I stand on the shoulders of giants and I couldn’t be any prouder of my heritage. Barely a week in and DeRay, BLM activist, had placed his bid to become Baltimore’s next Mayor. I think this is incredible considering Baltimore has been through so much as a community, DeRay is someone that would truly be on their side. Also, Future keeps dropping music!! People on social media keep arguing that he’s saturating the market, but I don’t care. Future’s music gives me so much energy that my productivity levels increase by a thousand in so many ways.
About my four-year plan, I have successfully declared my major as Biology Pre-Med. I was expecting a huge hassle to have it changed, but everything went so smoothly. My journey to medicine is already exciting and I can’t wait to see what’s in store.

Music. I love listening to music, it creates vibes and can make you feel so many emotions. Just recently, I subscribed to Apple Music and so far I’ve been satisfied with the curated playlists. It puts you on to some artists that you may have never given the chance to listen to, it’s pretty great. Yesterday one of my suggested artists was Rashad; he’s a Detroit-based R&B singer. I listened to his newest album, The Quiet Loud and I didn’t skip not one track. His voice is like velvet and if you haven’t already, you should give it a listen.

That’s all for now, but I can’t wait to touch base later about the beginning stages of my Journey to Medicine as I wrap up the last few months of my high school senior year. Since VCU will probably be my next step, I’ve attached a video of some of the excellence the university has to offer. Thanks for reading!!
