How do you study with your desk like that?
That’s the thing, I don’t. That’s why it looks like this. I decided to write this post because I was in the spur of an “OMG, what am I doing with my life moment”, so I decided to blog through it. As you can see in the image below, my desk is so cluttered I couldn’t possibly be getting any work done on it. My Mother and Grandmothers would be appalled. In fact, it was the sound of their voices in my head that prompted me to clean up this mess in the first place. I mean look at it, there’s a bonnet and a water filter just sitting right there… what?!?
I tried studying in my bed, which isn’t a great idea if that’s the same place you watch the Boondocks and switch between IG, Twitter, and Snapchat. I found that I’m most productive in the library where I can sit at a clean desk and be surrounded by motivated people. I, obviously, can’t be at the library at all times of the night so that’s where this desk comes in. I can no longer use it as a dump area because I absolutely have to have it in order to get some quality work done.
Like Dr. Morris-Priester said in her presentation, “Make plans, not excuses”, which is exactly what I did. I say all this to say that if you notice that you’re doing something in your life that’s prohibiting you from reaching your full potential, fix it.
Here’s a before and after so you can see the ratchetry my desk once was:

Yes, I have become that person who likes to have pictures of themselves on the wall. No, I am not ashamed. |
Okay, that’s all I have for today. Back to writing this paper for Psych.
