“If you do not like where you are, move. You are not a tree.”
I’m baaaaaaaack! As you all know (or maybe not), I (Andacia Kay) took a little break from blogging. Part of the reason was because I was starting a very new school year– new jobs, new classes, new leadership positions– and mostly because I was feeling uninspired. I stumbled across one of Denisse aka Thug Nanny’s posts about making the appropriate investments in order to grow creatively. That’s what pretty much gave the push to go ahead and overhaul everything. And no, this isn’t just about the design of blog. It was, pretty much, everything. I’m turning into someone who is determined to turn my dreams into a reality that young girls can see themselves going after the same thing. By being on a different platform and having a new name, I’m hoping that this space will grow to be a community full of young women who, unapologetically, want the same.
Now that that’s out of the way…
School has been a whirlwind! I haven’t even had any of my labs yet and my to-do lists are as long as my arms. I think taking everything one day at a time has been pretty helpful. It’s incredibly important to try to stay in the moment during life’s milestones such as college. There’s no need in stressing out over the future, when there’s already enough on our plates at the moment, right? Speaking of enjoying the moment, school has been in session for about 2 weeks now and I’ve already had a few great experiences. This weekend, my old roomie/bestie and I went to see PJ Morton in concert. He was amazing! His voice really tugs at my heart strings. Also, his band was impeccable. I have a few pictures from the evening, but not any videos. Clearly, I was really practicing being present.
I’m expecting nothing but good things to come out of this semester. In order to avoid burnout, or attempt to anyway, I’ve made it a point to do some weekly journaling and trying the pomodoro technique so I remember to take breaks. Maybe I’ll do a post on that soon. I hope you guys are as excited as I am for new beginnings, new memories, and new habits. Have a great week!
