“Let your faith be bigger than your fear”
Something really annoying happened to me last week. I studied really hard for my Chem quiz and I did well on it, I did. But, I almost cheated myself out of an A. Thankfully, I only changed the answer on my test and not the scantron, but this still sucked. I didn’t trust myself enough to have had the right answer down and it could have costed me that well deserved grade. And you know what? I find that I do this way too often. That’s something that I’m gonna work on this semester because self confidence is everything. If I’m aiming for a career in medicine, I’m gonna have to learn to trust myself to make the right decisions and stand by them– which is literally the bulk of what a doctor does.
ANYWAY…
I started mentoring last week and, just like I thought, I love it! Granted, it’s only been one week, but still. The coordinator stressed that, to our mentee’s, we are their gift, but I feel like the feeling is mutual. Having someone that looks up to me is more than rewarding and I’m glad I get to have this experience. I also started volunteering at the hospital this weekend. Volunteering on the weekends is gonna take some getting used to, but I do have time to get my lab reports done which is a plus.
Thankfully, I’m haven’t been playing catch up this weekend *cue praise hands*. This weekend was all about staying on track of everything and even trying to get ahead in others. I’m doing the same thing with the master to-do list as I did week before last; it was actually pretty helpful. As far as utilizing my free time, I’ve been doing pretty good. Waking up at around 7 every morning and heading to the library to knock some things out before classes has been super productive for me. Hopefully I can keep this going because I have back to back exams next week– I need all the study time I can get!
Something Interesting I learned:
When I was studying for my chem quiz, I found that I like calculating concentration units. Maybe because I actually knew what I was doing, I don’t know. Nonetheless, I was having a ball finding the molality of some elaborate substance.
Song of the Week:
I’m transitioning from the Daniel Caesar album into something else (Jhene Aiko maybe), but “Freudian” has been the song of the week.
Something I’m Thankful For:
Being able to mentor. I can already tell that I’m going to have an amazing time with my little mentee.
This Week’s Goals:
- Stay on top of readings
- Create a study guide for SOCY
- Ace my Chem exam!!
- Drink more water! — I’ve gotten better though
- Read a chapter of Beloved
- Keep up with my routine
Overall, I had a pretty great week. Wow, like I really can’t complain. I hope to make this week just as productive and well wishes to those of you who are trying to do the same!!
