“Yesterday you said tomorrow”
For some reason last week was extremely hard. I had my first Bio exam on Thursday, but I didn’t really start feeling overwhelmed until after the test was over. All of a sudden, I had readings on top of readings and due dates galore. I’m not sure if Labor Day threw me off of my stride or what. It was really hard for me to find the motivation to do what I needed to do. It got to the point where I was contemplating staying in bed all day and trying again the next. But, I managed to pull through the rest of the week and dedicated the weekend to playing catch up.
There was some light to come out of last week though. The weekly study sessions for our student org are beginning to grow and I had a mini sleepover with my girls on Friday night.
Saturday morning, my roommate and I headed to the library and stayed through the evening. I was able to get ahead in my chem homework for the week, which is great because now I’ll be able to focus on studying for the upcoming quiz. I probably could have done more had I not left my lab book at the dorm #sigh. Yesterday was also supposed be my first day of volunteering, but due to the protests, I didn’t. If I did, I probably would’ve gotten stuck on the medical campus.
Today, I’m studying for my upcoming chem quiz and getting my lab report done. It’s still so wild to me that labs are just 1 credit because of how time consuming they are. Gotta do what you gotta do, right? Anyway, I’m hoping that I’ll be able to stick to my routine this week so I don’t fall behind again. I created a master to-do list and have broken it up using my planning sheets from Target. Maybe later I’ll do an organization post #hmmm. Hopefully soon my life will be a little more interesting, but right now I really have to buckle down on school.
Something Interesting I Learned:
So in my Sociology Classical Theory class, we’re talking about Marx and Capitalism. The parallels of his work and today’s society are really fascinating. During our class discussions, I could come up with a few examples for each of his points. Hopefully soon we as a society can get to the point of class consciousness, until then we’ll just have to keep educating each other.
Song of the Week:
Alright, I’m still listening to Daniel Caesar’s album, Freudian. BUT, I have been able to choose my favorite song and it’s “Neu Roses (Transgressor’s Song)”. Again, I don’t see myself taking this album off repeat anytime soon.
Something I’m Grateful For:
My friends becuase we’ve been struggling as a unit this week. Also, the opportunity to be in college. Through all the hard days, it’s easy to take this privilege of mine for granted, but I truly am grateful to be here.
This Week’s Goals:
- Stay on top of readings
- Stay organized
- Drink more water!! — I’ve been really terrible at this
- Stay consistent with my devotions
- Read a chapter of “Beloved”
- Try to get up at 7 every morning
