“Remember when you prayed for the things you have now?”
Somewhere in my attempt to balance work, school, and life, my motivation got lost in the mix. Once I decided to get my life together, I wrote out all of things I need to get done in the next couple of weeks. I felt overwhelmed, but then I remembered that there’s someone out there who wishes they could have my “problems”. I’m in college, I have such a strong support system, and I’m confident that all of this is only the beginning. This holiday season, I’m trying to be slow to complain and quick to express gratitude… even for the little things.
Things I’m Thankful for:
- Access to basic healthcare: For many people, this right has been threatened numerous times this year. This was incredibly infuriating to watch and I’m thankful that so many people banded together to block each and every attempt.
- Friends: We have sleepovers, go to dinner, go on roadtrips, etc. We alos have our little issues, but we’ve been able to work through them which has made our bond even tighter.
- Family: I mean, why wouldn’t I be thankful for family?!
- My ambition: I get it, “faith without works is dead”, BUT I’m thankful that I have the capacity to dream as big as I do. I’m still working on my work ethic, but eventually I’ll have one that even Beyonce would be proud of.
I plan to incorporate some gratitude practices into my weekly routine because it always feels like I’m hitting a reset button when I do. The quote, “You didn’t come this far to only come this far”, definitely comes to mind when I get to counting all of my blessings. It’s like I’m getting a peace of mind or something.
Anyway, that’s enough of my babbling, I hope you all have a wonderful holiday!!
