“She made plans and God laughed”
Okay, so I know I said that I’d be spending the Summer studying for MCAT. I didn’t, well I did one chapter of physics, but that’s it. That’s why I haven’t been able to give any MCAT updates. Instead of studying, I spent the Summer working and taking a class. Initially, I planned to go to work and after each workday, I’ll start studying. However, I worked with kids this Summer and that job drained the life out of me. I was up at 6:15 every morning and wouldn’t get home until a little after 3. Mondays were rough because I had class from 6-9:40 PM. No matter how hard I tried, I couldn’t bring myself to open up an MCAT book.
It’s not the end of the world, though. This just means that I’m going to have to study during the semester. It shouldn’t be too bad as I’m only taking 12 credits this semester, but I hate when things don’t go as planned. I’m shooting for a January date so I can go ahead and get the test out of the way. This will require me to dedicate a few hours of study time exclusively for the MCAT every day. I can and will do it.
So what’s next?
I initially planned to only use Kaplan’s MCAT set, but ExamKrackers (EK) is where it’s at for me. As I said earlier, I did do one chapter of physics and EK really broke it down. As I get deeper into the material, I might use Kaplan as a cross-reference. I also plan to use Khan Academy to help me work through problems. Pushing my date back to the beginning of the year gives me about 4 months to study. As a bonus, I will have already taken Biochemistry by then, so not all is lost. If nothing else, this journey has shown me a whole new meaning of what it means to do hard things.
